How to remove wallpaper and paint the walls?
Hello … I just stripped the wallpaper on the walls (by using a steamer role carpet) in my new house, but there are some things that I think need to be addressed before starting to paint … 1) I think there is probably some wallpaper paste still stuck on the walls, here you see in the sugar soap is probably best to remove it? What is the easiest and best use? Mop and bucket, for example? 2) I have already sanded the walls down with a power sander, but I can not help thinking there is something else I have to do before painting, in part because the next point … 3) The walls were painted underneath the paper, so now that I took the wallpaper off, it took some of the paint. So I have patches painted painted areas and NGOs. I worry that this will show when painting walls. How can I fight this? I am completely new to DIY so please assume that I know nothing and can be explained in as much detail as possible. Thank you.
You can get paste remover wallpaper at Home Depot. I use a grout sponge to remove it. The grout sponge is great, and has an abrasive side and a smooth face, ideal for the elimination of pulp. When the paste is off, the first wall. You can get a first color if you wish, but in this case, I would suggest KILZ. It is oil based, smells, and will stick to you like glue … ultimately is a pain to work. However, it is the best way to ensure that no moisture seeps through your new paint job. Then you may need to some putty. If the wall has holes or uneven areas (sharp edges, not courts) get them smoothed with spackle and sand down after it dries. Usually it is imperfections easier to say after the prime the wall, but have to touch these areas who worked more primer before painting. NOW … is ready to paint ….. Good luck.
