BMW Motorrad, a subsidiary of BMW, manufactures motorcycles. Originally a manufacturer of aircraft engines at the turn of last century and through World War I, BMW introduced The first motorcycle with its name, the R32, in 1923 and has since gained prominence in the motorcycle industry.
Each of the last years (2004, 2005, 2006) seem to be banner years for BMW. On 25 September 2004, BMW launched globally a radically redesigned K Series motorcycle, the K1200S, which contains all a new line of four-cylinder, liquid cooled engine with 123 kW (165) CV. The K1200S was primarily designed as a Super Sport motorcycle, but larger and more heavier than the closest Japanese competitors. Shortly after the launch of the K1200S, problems were discovered with the new power plant leading to a recall until early 2005, when changes were implemented corrective. Recently, a K1200S set a land speed record for production bikes in his class at the Bonneville Salt Flats, exceeding 174 mph (280 km / h).
In the years after the release of K1200S, BMW has launched the naked K1200R roadster, and the Sports K1200GT tourer, which started appearing in dealerships in spring (March-June) of 2006. The three new K-Series motorcycles are based on the new line of four-cylinder with slightly varying degrees of power.
In 2007 BMW K1200R Sport adds a semi-faired sports touring version of the K1200R.
In 2004, bicycles with opposition-twin cylinder "boxer" engine also renewed. The new fighter displacement is slightly less than 1200 cc, and is affectionately called one hexhead "" Due to the shape of the cylinder cover. The engine itself is more powerful, and all bikes that are lighter use.
The first motorcycle to be launched with this engine was updated in the R1200GS dual-purpose motorcycle. The car R1200RT tourer and R1200ST sports followed shortly behind. In particular, the BMW R1200C, produced from 1997 to 2004, BMW Motorcycles entry was first in the Cruiser market.
In 2006, BMW launched the R1200S, which is valued at 90 kW (121 hp) at 8,250 rpm. April 2007, BMW announced its return to road racing competition, enter a factory team with a "Sport Boxer" version of the R1200S with four races 24 hours of resistance. A street version of the Sport Boxer R1200S expected in 2008, valued 144 hp (107 kW) and a weight of 195 kg fully fueled.
