“Turn key Engine” Is possible to Buy one of those kits for my Chevy Nova, and send it to Argentina??
I live in Argentina, and I own a 72 Chevy Nova. The car has a straight six 250 c.i. engine, and is not enough for me, so I will like to bring some V8 engine from the United States (350 c.i. or more..) . Anyone knows if is this possible? and if it is,.. how much will cost the taxes, and shipping from USA to Argentina??
There are a number of reputable places on the Web that sell rebuilt or in-the-crate engines. As you probably know, there is a big business in replacement engines, especially for American cars. I’ll give you one site here and some information, and then list other sites below.

They list a 350 engine for an early 70’s Nova at $1300. You should not owe any significant US taxes on that purchase – - no sales taxes and no export taxes.
The question of import duties that might be owed to Argentina is a harder one. The reason is it is harder is that the schedules for import duties are very complex. The issues that are going to affect your taxes are: (1) at what level are auto parts taxed? (2) is there an exemption for personal use of the imported item? (3) does it make a difference whether you import the engine “turnkey” or in parts?
My suggestion would be to call a shipping company in Argentina. They should be able to give you a fairly quick answer on taxes and on shipping.
Based on shipping I have done, a very rough estimate of shipping cost would be $.80 to $1.00 per pound.
Some Argentinian import duties are very high, 35% on automobiles, for example. Parts are taxed at a different level. Some parts aren’t taxed at all.
Again it is very hard to determine the answer to the actual tax from here in the US.
