Actual Miles
how many actual miles are on vehicles with odometers that go to 99,999 and then start over?
My 1990 van says it has 45,600 miles on it, but I know it has turned over at least once. Other than have service records is there a way to check to see how many actual miles are on it. I am getting ready to buy a newer model and don’t want to pay for a “low mileage” vehicle unless it really is.
There is no way of knowing the actual mileage without service records. Depending on the state you live in, the title MAY read “mileage on vehicle exceeds mechanical limits” for vehicles that do not measure mileage over 100K or if an odometer has been replaced.
Although, you shouldn’t worry about the vehicle you are purchasing…. Newer model vehicles have odometers that accomodate higher miles.
